Celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month: Mexican Cultural Dress Edition

HISPANIC HERITAGE MONTH

The Latin Community celebrates Hispanic Heritage evert September. In honor of Mexican Independence Day on September 16th, I wanted to share details on my story and this vibrant, colorful dress!

After an amazing and unforgettable summer vacation with my family, I’ve been waiting to share this gem I found in a market in Mexico! These dresses are very authentic. People wear them on a daily, especially the older women. It’s very traditional. My favorite part about it is that its a one size fits all! Mexican culture is about being bright and colorful and standing out.

My parents came here to give us, their 3 daughters a better future. I spent some time in México this summer and witnessed the blood, sweat, and tears people go through firsthand, on a daily. It’s not the safest in some places, but the PEOPLE make the culture what it is. Our people are about helping one another, they are humble, they are hard working and they absolutely love life through it all. Those same principles exist in my household to this very day. I carry the good morals with and in me in every area in life. Relationships, friendships, and business. Knowing where I came from and recognizing everything my parents and family have gone through to be here is what FUELS me. And I’m gonna do it all for them.

Te amo México! Mi tierra linda y querida!!!💚

Rainy Day Outfit: Tomboy Edition

Incase you haven’t heard, its been raining cats and dogs in Florida lately. Gray and gloomy skies often affect our moods and even our sense of style for the day. I like to take advantage of rainy days in sporty/tomboy-ish attire.

Believe it or not, ever since I was a little girl…my dad always encouraged my sisters and I to play sports, anything from soccer, beach soccer, volleyball and running. I think thats why I (low-key) still enjoy dressing down.

The Tomboy Rainy Day OOTD:

Black leggings are your starting point. Tights or workout pants? No one will ever know. Since I live in Florida, and since we’re days away from “officially” summer, we’re bound to hit some pretty high temperatures. You can find me in a sports bra and a cotton workout shirt. This one in particular was about $15 from Old Navy! They have the CUTEST workout apparel.

I’ve been quite the sneaker head lately. I love the on-the-go state of mind and feeling. I especially hate the feeling of my feet wet in the middle of the day, so its always wise to wear anything but flip-flops. You may also be wondering, if you live in Florida, why are you wearing a jacket? Hello, the rain! 🙂 Be sure to have a jacket with a hoodie. Camo jackets are my absolute fav! They add so much texture to your outfit.

Dressing athletic has always been a preference of mine. I like the empowering feeling of getting things done that it gives me. Rain or shine.

I love knowing that although I’m a girly-girl, I have this other side to me that many people don’t know of. Which I love! If you’re the same, embrace it. Wanna know why? Because it just means we have the best of both worlds embedded IN us! Badass, and sweet.

So thank you for reading, I hope you enjoyed this post and this outfit. If you’re not already following in me on Instagram, follow me here!

Peace, love and light, always.

Move for Minds Event to Benefit The Women’s Alzheimer’s Movement – Miami, FL

Did you hear all the buzz about the recent Move for Minds event that took place in 8 different cities across the U.S at the same time last Sunday, June 4th? I just so happened to attend the event held in Miami, FL and I have put together all the info you need to know about this amazing, life-changing movement!

Let me start by saying that this event was presented by Maria Shriver and Equinox. As many of you may or may not know, Maria is the founder of The Women’s Alzheimer’s Movement. The organization’s mission is to raise funds for research and potentially find a cure for Alzheimer’s. Did you know that every 66 seconds a new brain develops Alzheimer’s and 2/3 of those brains belong to Women? Maria is on the hunt to find out why.

In order to participate, each attendee had to raise at least $250 dollars. The three hour event consisted of a one hour workout, one hour of  networking and time to look at all of the vendors along with a time to refuel with healthy snacks (which were complimentary), and a one hour panel.

The workout: The one hour workout was a special designed workout that included both cardiovascular and meditation exercises. See video below.

The Marketplace: i.e the brain-healthy snack break/networking time also gave participants an opportunity to check out the innovative products from the sponsors. There were great sponsors like Beats by Dr. Dre, Cole Haan, Smart Water, Lyft and more. My personal favorite perk from the sponsors was receiving a $250 voucher code to receive a free pair of Cole Haan shoes!

The Panel: The panel was filled with memory coaches, life coaches, nutritionists and doctors who all realize the gap we need to fill when it comes to Alzheimer awareness. We learned memory techniques to help us train our brains to remember with visuals.

The Move for Minds event took place at Equinox in the beautiful Four Seasons Hotel in Brickell. Women were empowered, they engaged and were educated for such an important cause that many of us, like myself prior to attending would never have realized the importance. I encourage you all to look into this event, invite your friends and family next year in a city near you.

Thank you for reading. I hope the this amazing cause caught your attention! If you aren’t already, follow me on Instagram @monicarpramos_ to find out about more events like this in South Florida!

Love, light and blessings always,

Spring’s Must Have: Florals, Cold Shoulder’s & Ruffles

Runways at Spring Fashion Week this year were an uproar of floral prints, dreamy pastel shades, layered with ruffles and topped off with a cold shoulder cut. That’s precisely what this jumpsuit has going on.

Let me start my welcoming you to my page and mentioning that jumpsuit’s are for everyone no matter your height or body shape . They just look so flattering. My personal take on jumpsuit’s is that it is a statement to the world that, “Yes, I take my appearance seriously, but let’s make it simple…and comfortable.” All that requires is a good print a good cut and of course, some ruffles.

This particular jumpsuit is designed by J by J.O.A and was a gem found at Target. I can’t tell you how I lit up when I laid my eyes on it. Now, when looking for the link…after not finding it, my first thought is that Target is sold out – I was only able to find the link to a floral dress with the same print, here. I did a little digging and found another design in the same print on Revolve, here.

I am so upset to not have the exact link, I had so many compliments on this find! So sorry guys, I let you all down. You can always follow me on Instagram, HERE to follow my hunt for styles, though! See you there 🙂

Lights in the Garden – Naples Botanical Garden

In the month of December, Naples Botanical Gardens in Naples, FL puts on magical lights in their gardens. I was greatly impressed with their unique, modern and colorful light combinations they showcased.

These Gardens are my favorite hometown attraction, by day the gardens take you through an international journey of unique plants and colors from from all over the world including Asia and Brazil. I had never attended their Night Lights in the Garden until now and the amount of lights gave off an entirely different and magical feeling to the gardens. And live music too!

It was definitely a very popular place to be in December. Every night I wanted to go, tickets were sold out therefore I was not able to go until the end of December. Check their website out here to find out how it looks by day! This was a perfect date night, however Naples Botanical Gardens is the perfect place for an afternoon stroll with family or friends as well as for your kids! They have a little section just for them 🙂

I can officially check out the Night Lights in the Garden off my bucket list, hope you can visit NBG and experience it too! Visit my Instagram for more photos : monicapramos_

Until next time,

Peace, Love & blessings!
